A dive journal — not a dive log

Every dive, every creature, every word.

Shoal keeps the whole record of your diving life — the numbers you were trained to log, the marine life you actually remember, and the story in your own words. Saved as plain files you own. No account, anywhere.

One dive, kept whole

This is a dive file.

Not a row in a table — a place, its conditions, the animals that turned up, and what it felt like to be there. Shoal keeps all of it, for every dive.

Down the line to the M2

Thirty metres of green turned the shot line into a rope through nothing — and then the hull came out of the gloom all at once, the aircraft hangar door still open after ninety years. A conger thick as my thigh sat inside it, jaw open, entirely unbothered by us. Lobsters in every gap in the plating, a curled octopus tucked in under the gun mount, plumose anemones so dense the steel reads as soft. Thirty minutes wasn't enough. It never is on her.

Every creature you log becomes part of a record that builds over time.

Early days

Built by one diver. Ask him anything.

Shoal is young, and it's made by one person — a diver who kept losing the stories of his own dives. There's no support desk and no ticket queue: questions, ideas, and confusions come straight to me, and I answer all of them.
